Cosmetic Body Lift Surgical Procedures

The scope of each Body Lift is specifically designed to suit the individual during personal consultation with your surgeon. The specific requirements will depend on the areas of the body that are to be addressed.

Some common plastic surgery procedures that may be an included are:

  • Facelift. To reduce sagging of the mid-face, jowls and neck.
  • Breast Lift. To correct sagging and flattened breasts.
  • Tummy Tuck. To correct the apron of excess skin hanging over your abdomen.
  • Lower Body Lift. To correct the sagging of the abdomen, buttocks, groin and outer thighs.
  • Thigh Lift. To correct the sagging of outer and mid thighs.
  • Arm Lift. To correct the sagging of the upper arms.

All Body Lift surgery will require incisions in order to tighten and remove excess skin and fat deposits. In many cases these incisions may be fairly extensive. Incision length and patterns depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed.

Where possible these incisions will be placed in strategic locations where they can be hidden by most types of clothing and swimsuits. The location and nature of the incisions required will be explained in depth during your pre-surgery consultation.

After Body Lift Surgery

It is likely you will feel tired and sore for several days following surgery, but expect to be up and about within 24 to 48 hours. Initial healing will include varying degrees of swelling at the incision sites. Any discomfort will be monitored and can be controlled by prescribed medication.

As an outpatient you will be discharged the same day of the operation and sent home. You will not be able to drive, so do arrange for transport and someone to be around to look after you for the first few days.

The skin will continue to heal for many weeks as swelling resolves and incision lines continue to improve. In many cases you will be instructed to avoid bending, straining and lifting for several days to weeks.

Getting Back To Normal After Body Lift Surgery

After surgery you should be able to return to work and normal activity after a few weeks as long as this does not include any heavy lifting or vigorous exercise. Particular attention must also be paid to sun protection until the healing process is fully complete. It may take a year or more for incision lines to refine and fade.

Your New Look

The results of a Body Lift are often visible immediately, however it may take as much as one or two years for the final results to become obvious. Visible scars are something you must accept from taking a surgical approach to achieving a body contour that matches your desired body weight and proportions.

The results of Body Lifting are generally long lasting, provided you maintain a stable weight and general fitness. As your body ages, it is natural to lose more firmness, however, most of your initial improvement should be relatively permanent.
